2024 is going to be a wonderful year, with a programme that remains faithful to previous years, featuring Anne Kelly, who will be talking about houses and manors, Julie Arkell and her marvellous textile creations, and Mandy Pattullo with three dream themes: boros, portraits and red embroidery.

2024 will also be a year of diversity, as we welcome two new French artists: Sylviane Caretti and Isabelle Strutz. They'll be talking about their love of relics of the past, textile art and mixed media - I love the avenues of exploration they'll be proposing: genealogy, old photos and papers, bocage and family stories.

In this class with artist Anne Kelly, you will work from a house or building of your choice that reminds you of a particular memory.

Anne Kelly, award-winning, UK-based textile artist, author and tutor. Her multi-layered, densely stitched textiles have been described as "small worlds".

Trained in Canada and at Goldsmiths College in London, she creates wall paintings and objects by mixing mixed techniques.
She is inspired by travel, memory, nature and especially popular art.
Anne teaches mixed media and textiles to various groups in the UK and abroad.
She is a member of the Embroiders Guild UK, the Crafts Council Directory, the European Textile Network and the Society for the Arts.
She also exhibits nationally and internationally. His recent solo exhibition at the prestigious Ruthin Craft Centre, entitled 'Well Travelled', was described as 'delightful to see' by the renowned 'Ruthin Craft Centre' magazine.
The renowned Embroidery magazine described his recent solo exhibition at the prestigious Ruthin Craft Center as 'Well Traveled' as 'enchanting'.
The five books she published for Batsford relate to and reflect her practice, and are widely collected and studied by students of all ages around the world.

Julie Arkell

Playing with fabric and threads

Julie Arkell is one of England's most recognized contemporary textile artists.

Julie works with papier-mâché, mixing vintage fabrics, bits of poems and words she loves as well as knitting and embroidery. His unique style is inspired by old toys, painting, stories and folk art.
His work is imbued with nostalgia, memory, charm and fantasy at the same time.

Born in London, Julie Arkell studied at West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham before completing a degree in textiles at St Martin's School of Art. His work is exhibited around the world, including in the United Kingdom, New York and Japan.

Mandy Pattullo

Textile collages

Mandy Pattullo is an artist working in Northumberland, UK. She cherishes the old and the worn, remodeling vintage textiles into new collages embellished with stitches and appliqués. Her work is inspired by the thrift and DIY culture of the past, as well as the textile traditions of other cultures, particularly utilitarian patchworks and quilts made by women in domestic settings. Her collages, fabric books and personalization of old clothes bring together precious fragments to form evocative compositions. The viewer is forced to re-examine fabrics that have become defective through wear and tear, to find new beauty in them. Mandy teaches mainly from her area in the North of England, but she enjoys combining teaching with trips to France to meet new people and find even more beautiful textiles. Mandy creates work for sale, exhibits and has written two books: "Textile Collage" and "Textiles Transformed".

A Parisian living in Normandy for a long time, I have always been passionate about textiles, photos and old papers.

Collage and mixed media have allowed me to bring them together through my creations, and the more they are worn and weathered by time, the more I want to use them to revive them. This is how I connect to a forgotten past... which enchants me!

A trained stylist, she created fashion accessories in Paris, then went to live in the Pays de Loire. She then explores the bocage, the hollow paths, the streams, the preserved countryside of this region. She loves to sew by hand, and little by little the landscapes inspire her with stories of small hidden castles, families and embroidered ancestors, old books transformed into textile paintings. She constantly collects old textiles that she uses in her works.

Always passionate about fabrics and all its applications whether in artistic fields or those of fashion, it is only natural that at the age of 25 I began to be interested with emotion in patchwork .

Student of Nadine Rogeret at first, I very quickly satisfied my growing passion by taking lessons at Patchworks du Rouvray in Paris. And curiosity taking me to the fairs of the needle in celebration, to Sainte Marie aux Mines or to England to follow courses there, I got acquainted with textile art and all its variations and met artists that I love.

Embroidery, antique fabrics, quilts, fabric applications have become a kind of language for me.
